About Christopher
Christopher J. MacGillis is a founder and partner at MacGillis Law Group, LLC. Chris focuses his practice on personal injury law and representing first responders, including police and firefighter unions throughout Wisconsin.
A lifelong Wisconsin resident, Chris has built his career helping people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Whether representing someone seriously injured in an accident, advocating for a firefighter injured on the job, or helping a police officer navigate a career-changing event, Chris is known for taking a personal approach and doing the work necessary to give clients the strongest possible path forward.
Over the years, Chris has earned a reputation for handling challenging cases. Clients, unions, and other attorneys have turned to him when the stakes are high and the outcome is uncertain. He has successfully represented injured individuals, police officers, firefighters, labor unions, and families across Wisconsin, helping them protect their rights and pursue meaningful results.
Chris earned his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School after receiving his B.A. in Economics from Lawrence University. While at Lawrence, he was a member of the men’s basketball team, serving as team captain and earning both all-academic and all-conference honors. He was recently inducted into the Pius XI High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Chris has significant experience representing police officers and firefighters throughout Wisconsin. His work includes grievances, arbitrations, discipline matters, terminations, collective bargaining, officer-involved shootings, duty disability claims, and squad and fire engine accidents. He regularly works alongside police and fire unions to help members navigate injury, disability, and employment-related issues.
In addition to his legal practice, Chris has written and presented extensively on personal injury law, insurance issues, and matters affecting first responders. He frequently speaks to organizations throughout Wisconsin and is a trusted resource on issues impacting public safety professionals and their families.
Chris was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court to serve as a District Committee Member for the Wisconsin Office of Lawyer Regulation and currently serves as Chair of his district committee.
His work on behalf of clients has earned recognition including selection as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, Leading Lawyer by M Magazine, Top 10 Attorney Under 40 by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, Avvo Clients’ Choice Award recipient, and Top 100 Trial Lawyer by The National Trial Lawyers.
Outside the office, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, Ann, daughters Grace and Josephine, and son Owen. An avid outdoorsman, he has a lifelong passion for Wisconsin’s woods and waters, including fishing, hunting, and conservation. He has appeared on John Gillespie’s Waters & Woods and remains actively involved in outdoor organizations throughout the state.
Whether he’s in a courtroom, speaking with a union member, or spending a day on the water, Chris brings the same qualities to everything he does: patience, preparation, persistence, and a genuine commitment to the people he serves.
